10:10 pm
Once again [info]harveyjames is drawing cats. This time it's christmas cats. Here are a few christmas cats that I contributed to the cause.

Content christmas cat with mistletoe and popper. I bet there's a really shit pun inside that popper. Oh hey, Spen, you could probably write those jokes in the future. I'll give you an example.

Q. What is Tarzan's favourite christmas song?
A. Jungle Bells!

That's so down your alley, Spen.

Next we have the Australian christmas cat. What is an Australian christmas without prawns, drinking and cricket? Not one I attend is the answer (although my family doesn't drink all that much and sometimes we forget to play cricket, but there are always LOTS of prawns. That is for sure)

Don't get me wrong, though, I don't like christmas. All it is is mass consumerism with religious undertones and awkward family get togethers. Each year I try and make sure as many presents as possible are home made or free trade to make myself feel a bit better about the whole thing. I'm a fan of the idea behind it, giving, but that doesn't always come through and instead it's about people trying to demonstrate love they feel they should have for others through poorly chosen gifts that have no thought or sentiment behind them. And there you have it folks, one of the few things in the world that makes me squirm uncomfortably. Christmas.

I encourage everyone out there to put as much thought as they can into their presents to others this year. I know a lot of people out there are artistically inclined so instead of giving a loved one a voucher to a shop how about you give them a painting or a comic? Once again, though, don't get me wrong. I still enjoy christmas because I am one for milking as much enjoyment as possible out of a situation as possible. No matter how you go about christmas or any other festive holiday just make sure you have fun. Savour it for all it's worth. Also make sure you eat a prawn at some stage on the 25th of December.

P.S. I'm not that much of a scrooge. Sometimes. It's all good fun.

God damn schoolies was good fun. There isn't any better way to celebrate the finishing of high school than a solid week of partying. Being alive is pretty damn good.
Here's a sketch I did a couple of months ago.

And no this is not what went down on schoolies. Sadly. As much fun being a greasy haired womaniser is, it is not what I decided to do with my week. What I did do was party, juggle, party, swim, party, party, almost get assaulted by a drugged up angry neighbour, party and go to a music festival. Damn good times.

Now I have lots of time for painting, drawing and photography. Get ready, kids.

Alrighty, let's get in one more post before I go away for schoooooliiieeees, okay?

Have some hands:
The army mistook it for Godzilla and it was subsequently annihilated

I need to work on hands. Maybe some other time. Now it is time for partying. 6 days of partying. I will see you all in a week or so! Hooray!

10:08 pm - Don't let them

I have begun juggling and playing the piano accordion again. They are fantastic pass times. Next time I go to my Dad's house I will pick up my unicycle and start learning that again. Woo!

Oh! I also did my first ever paid anything that relates to art! I did some photography for the fashion label Green Eyed Monster (the photos on the site are not mine. Some animations will be added to the ones I took and then hopefully they'll go up on the site.) Go check them out! Environmentally and morally friendly clothes for guys and gals and most of them have pretty pictures of birds on them! I am totally not bias because it is totally not run by my step mum. At all. Totally. They are also really comfortable.

Enjoy life, everyone. Kay?

Exams are over. Exams were my bitch. It is party times. Partying will become my new bitch.
Here I will exhibit to you one of the few drawings I did during exams:

As you may have guessed I drew this with the trackpad on my laptop. Is anyone else game enough to try it as well? Go ahead. Draw yourself using a track pad or a mouse. Spend maybe 5 minutes on it? Hell, let's call it a meme that I am starting.

Also here is a photo of me in my last ever history class. There are two things you need to know, it was a dress up day and every day people sing me happy birthday. My teacher decided to throw a party in class to celebrate 202 days until my birthday.

I am thinking about making a short comic story kind of thing. More on that later. That is all.

06:33 pm - I'm still here, don't call the police rescue team just yet
I have been studying for exams. This is the first time I have drawn properly for about a month.

I have exams for another two weeks so I wouldn't be expecting a thing out of me between now and then. After that I have a month of partying so don't expect anything out of me then either. So the moral of the story is that I will see you all around mid December some time. I'm trying to keeping checking all of your stuff and commenting where possible, but you know, sometimes I miss a few days and get a couple of hundred posts behind and I just can not be bothered. I still love you all. I'll be here in spirit.

Also I'm not kidding about the comic. Yesterday I was so excited when I realised it was my turn to go shopping and cook dinner. I best be off now, what with an exam tomorrow and all of that. Here's hoping that I get in the top 12% of the state (that's what I need to get into my uni course). On an unrelated matter uni course sounds similar to unicorn. They are both magical in my mind.

09:16 pm - Oh my god there is so much school.
School is like air at the moment. It is everywhere and I cannot get away from it. However my lungs do not require school, so I guess they are slightly different. I spent at least 15 hours studying on the weekend and right now is my first proper break since last Wednesday or something. Not to worry, though! Only 28 days 15 hours and 54 minutes til I finish as of now. I've been so busy I haven't even been able to check livejournal properly. Any way enough of my bitching here is some stuff. I am not sure what I am about to show you, I have not decided.

I guess I will be telling you about my trip to the Royal Melbourne Show. It was pretty good.

There was a goat. It liked to eat its enclosure. I have to admit he was persistent if nothing else.

Show me more. )

Best. Book. Ever. $4 marked down from $27.95. Does anyone have any dreams they want me to interpret for them? I'll give you this knowledge for free: If you dream you are in a desert it means you are feeling sexually baron/unfulfilled. If you are searching for something in the desert then it means you are looking for something to literally fill you/your desires. A few nights ago I dreamt I was in a desert kind of setting and I was looking for something and then suddenly my Dad was trying to drown himself in a pool filled with cubes of jelly. I don't even want to begin to think about what that means. There were also some robots and orcas involved in there somewhere.

Also go check out [info]deathchalupa   he does some damn fine comics of his dreams. That and his style is just amazing. Go friend him. Now.

It just wants to say hello and eat your children.

I haven't got much for you at the moment apart from my pages from my sketchbook and some more photos.

I can feel exams coming on. There are 25 days until my first exam and 37 until all my exams are finished, as is my schooling career. Not that I'm counting. To really hammer in how much work we have to do our politics teacher gave us a revision booklet today. It is 370 pages long. Goodbye social life?

I would marry aperture control functions on cameras if I could.

Now for your enjoyment:

I love the MX.
The MX is by far the most credible novel, I mean newspaper, that the world has ever seen.

An actual painting? Crazy. This is a painting I did when a friend told me to draw a picture that involved grass, birds, the Eiffel Tower and dancing. I painted it back in July but I gave it to him on Saturday for his 18th, so now I can share it with you. It seems a lot of our friends gave him art for his birthday. Lucky him.

A ridiculous amount of people have bitched about the fact that "the Eiffel Tower isn't surrounded by lush greenery". It's called artistic license, people.

Also I recommend looking at this painting while listening to Your English Is Good - Tokyo Police Club or Sarah Dreams of Summer - Working for a Nuclear Free City if you are after happy times. Just imagine frolicking in the warm spring sun and nothing else matters. Smiles all round for everyone. Have a good day/night depending on where you are reading this.

08:09 pm - You may not want to look at this.

Here are some photos of a dead rat.

More images of the rat. A bit more graphic. )

I took a lot more, but a most of the good ones were out of focus. Oh well.

Any one ever read a book called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close? It is a bit on the depressing side of things but at the same time it makes you want to go out there and live life to the fullest. So of course here I am at home on the internet. Maybe I'll go out and live tomorrow. Or the day after. Some time soon, for sure. You should too (that is read the book and live life).

Have some photos. Tomorrow: A close analysis of a dead rat. It was quite interesting and I took a disturbing amount of photos of it.

Also I had an interesting idea for a photography exhibit. Maybe I'll look into that further after exams.

11:22 pm - Call me.

Have fun at SPX all you American/Canadian kiddies! I will sit here in Australia wishing I was with you all. But then again I probably won't because this weekend is party central. Let's roll!

08:58 pm - Photo dump
All photos in the original form. No editing or the like. You can't exactly see the crazy circle patterns going on in each of them but they're there. Just use your imagination. If anyone is wondering I took these photos from inside a tram looking out through a picture pasted over the windows.

And some birds for good measure. It's not even that good a photo, but you can have it anyway! I'm so generous.

I have lots of photos, paintings and drawings lying on my computer waiting to be shared with the world. Get ready for excitement.

Also does anyone out there know Pitman shorthand? I am trying to learn.

08:22 pm - More sketchbook.
All bow before him. Especially in Halo.

Here is a picture of a friend showing his two different personas. First is annoyed at computers persona and second is ambitious leader. The highly insensitive persona is missing but I guess that can be included in leadership, sadly.

See all that black? Do you know how long that takes to colour in with a 0.4 pen? A solid 40 minutes. Lesson learnt: Get a bigger pen.

Also this picture is evidence of the fact there are no sketches in my 'sketchbook'. Perhaps I should actually do some mucking around drawing. Then again stuff like this is too much fun.

More sketches.

When I went to bed after drawing this all I could see was ears. I would close my eyes and there would be ears. I would try and think of anything and it would become ears. So many ears.

Trotsky is fast becoming one of my favourite historical figures. He's up there with Danton. Those two know how to run revolutions. Who is/are your favourite historical figure/s?
